How to Create a Music Video on a Budget – A Liverpool Case Study with Nicaise Kanga

At Nice to Film You, we believe that a powerful music video doesn’t need a massive budget to make an impact. Recently, we worked with Liverpool-based musician Nicaise Kanga to produce a dynamic, social-media-ready music video that proves creativity and smart production can go a long way. The goal was simple: create a visually engaging video with energy and rhythm that would perform well across platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

For the location, we hired a stage room inside the Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool, which provided the perfect controlled environment for lighting and camera movement. The production was intentionally lean but highly effective: one shooter, three hybrid cameras and a small lighting setup. This allowed us to capture multiple angles simultaneously and create a visually rich edit without the need for a large crew.

The entire production was designed to be efficient and budget-friendly. Pre-production took half a day to plan the shots, lighting and flow of the performance. The shoot itself lasted just two hours, capturing all the footage we needed. Post-production was completed in another half day, focusing on fast-paced editing that matched the rhythm of the track and delivered the energetic, social-media-style feel the artist wanted.

This project shows how independent musicians can achieve professional results without overspending. With the right planning, creative direction and a streamlined production setup, a short, powerful music video can be produced quickly and affordably while still looking polished and engaging.
